The Rise of Chandragupta
Historical Significance
Marked the beginning of the first pan-Indian empire and centralized governance.
With the strategic brilliance of his mentor Chanakya, Chandragupta Maurya
assembled an army and overthrew the Nanda dynasty, establishing the Mauryan Empire
with its capital at Pataliputra (modern-day Patna). He later defeated the generals
of Alexander the Great, reclaiming northwestern territories.
